Our Daily Elder Devotional
We claim no originality for these devotions. One of our elders searches various sources and finds a daily devotion. Consider this a gift from Clinton Avenue Reformed Church: www.clintonave.org.
Today’s devotional comes from “Your Best Life” by Joel Osteen.
Live to Please God
Ecclesiastes 2:26New King James Version (NKJV)
26 For God gives wisdom and knowledge and joy to a man who is good in His sight; but to the sinner He gives the work of gathering and collecting, that he may give to him who is good before God. This also is vanity and grasping for the wind.
God has given you the grace to do what He’s called you to do. He has not given you the grace to do what everybody else is doing. Take care of yourself; quit looking at what everybody else is doing. Be your best, regardless of whether you come in first or last, whether you get the big promotion or not, whether you make the grade or fall on your face in failure. If you do, you can hold your head high.
Granted you will face enormous pressure to do what everybody else is doing, to try to please everybody and meet all their expectations. Accept the fact that everybody’s not going to agree with every decision you make. But you don’t have to please everyone else; you need to please only God.
